The Importance of Doing a Complete Vehicle Inspection

As consumers there are many important questions we ask ourselves when choosing a transportation company.  How much will it cost?  How long will transport take?  Another important factor to consider is the safety of your vehicle during transport.  You want to make sure your car or truck arrives in the same condition at destination as when it left origin.  Here are a few tips and information you will need when your vehicle is delivered to you.

  1. When your vehicle arrives make sure to do a thorough inspection with the MetroGistics driver present.  Notate any and all damages (nicks, scratches, dents, etc...) on the vehicle. The driver will keep a copy of this “condition report” as will you, the customer.
  2. If you are not present when the vehicle is dropped, the condition report will have an STI (Subject to Inspection) stamp or signature written on it.  As soon as you are able to take physical possession of the vehicle, you should still do a thorough inspection on the vehicle and notate any and all damages.
  3. If you see damage, take pictures!  A picture is worth a thousand words and there is no better proof of a claim.
  4. Get a valid estimate.  The claims department will need to know how much it will cost to fix any damage your vehicle sustained during transport.  You can generally get this through a dealership or body shop.
  5. Contact the claims department at the transport company as soon as possible.  Even if you do not have pictures or estimates readily available, the sooner you report the damage to the claims department, the better.  Backup documentation can always be sent in after initial contact.  You can call MetroGistics any time at 877.571.6235 day or night!
