Follow these steps for a smooth transport experience!

Making the big transition to college?  Having a vehicle relocated can be simple if you just follow a few steps when preparing for the move.  There are many things you worry about when going off to school, but getting your vehicle shouldn't be one of them.

When choosing a destination address for the vehicle, consider the surrounding location.  Most college campuses are not designed to have large trucks maneuvering their streets.  Choose a large parking lot, or anywhere with plenty of space for the truck to turn around and unload your vehicle safely. 

Make sure that you will be at the given destination location upon vehicle arrival.  This is important so that you and the transporter can look over the vehicle for damage, sign off on the condition report and exchange the keys.  Keep in mind that the driver most likely has other vehicles to deliver, so he could be on a very tight schedule.  Promptness is appreciated!

Remember to air up the tires to the manufacturer's suggestions.

Make sure that the vehicle is operable so that the transporter will have no problems loading and unloading it.

Your vehicle may have to be driven on and off the truck a few times, so make sure to leave a little gas in the tank.

Take pictures of the vehicle and note the condition before releasing it to the driver.

Next, even though you may want to fill up the car with as much stuff as possible for the big move, DON'T!  This is for your safety as well as that of the driver.  Personal items can add a lot of weight to a vehicle, and the driver may refuse to transport it rather than go overweight.  Additionally, the transport company will not be responsible for any loss or damage to items inside the vehicle, so it’s just not worth the risk.
