Before You Ship
After setting up the dates and locations for pick-up and delivery of your vehicle, there are a few things that you will need to complete so that your vehicle is in proper shipping condition. Through the years, we have learned that going through the following check list makes the transportation process much smoother.
The Basics:
- Your vehicle must be operable. This makes loading and unloading much easier. You must inform us if the vehicle is inoperable for any reason so we can arrange adequate transportation.
- The vehicle should be in original manufacturing condition. If any modifications have been made to the vehicle, you will need to notify us so we can gather all the proper specifications.
- Provide MetroGistics with several different methods to contact you. This is essential so that the driver can call ahead to verify pickup and destination times and details.
- Make arrangements so that either you or someone you know is available during pickup and delivery. There are numerous documents that must be signed, so having someone present upon pickup is essential.
Preparing your vehicle:
- Have your car is in relatively clean condition so that any damages are easily visible. All scratches and dents need to be noted prior to transport.
- Clean out any personal items from your vehicle. There should be absolutely nothing of value inside the vehicle, truck or glove compartment.
- Complete an overall inspection of your vehicle to ensure that there are no leaks or loose cables.
- Remove the faceplate if you have an aftermarket radio installed.
- Any temporary bike racks, camper shells, or anything else that is a temporary addition needs to be removed.
- Make an extra set of keys so that they driver can access ALL areas of the vehicle.
- Remove any aftermarket antennas. The standard manufacture antenna is fine.
- Make sure there is gas in the vehicle. A full tank isn't necessary but the vehicle needs to have at least a quarter of a tank.
At the time of inspection:
- You or someone you give consent to is required to be at pickup and delivery to sign off on all documents.
- You or someone you give consent to is required to complete the vehicle inspection with the driver, acknowledging all damage before and after transport.
- You or someone you give consent to must sign off on the bill of lading finalizing pickup and delivery along with the overall condition of the vehicle.
We do all we can to make sure you have a great experience, but these few things will help make the process smoother and more worry-free. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us at any time!
